Peak spent nine seasons as the head coach of the A&M-Commerce men's basketball team, guiding the Lions to 134 wins in his time as coach. Peak helped guide the program to Lone Star Conference championships during both the 1995-96 season and the 1997-98 season. His teams made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament from 1996-98, advancing to the Elite Eight in the 1996-97 season. During his tenure, he coached two LSC Most Valuable Players, including Darrell Waters who went on to be named South Central Region Player of the Year and a Third Team All-American in 1996-97. Peak coached 17 All-Conference players during his nine seasons as coach.

Following his tenure as head men's basketball coach, Peak spent four years as the A&M-Commerce Athletic Director.
