Parks, a running back, was part of the 1972 National Championship Team, and was named an All-American by three publications after the 1972 season, including two naming him on the first team. He was also named the Lone Star Conference's Outstanding Back of the Year, named to first team all-conference. Parks currently ranks second all-time in rushing yards per game, sixth all-time in career rushing yards, and is tied for seventh all-time for rushing touchdowns.
