Dudley Slice played tight end for the Lion football team from 1971-74. During the 1972 season, he led the Lone Star Conference in receiving yards, totaling 833 yards on 55 catches, including six touchdown receptions, earning First Team All-LSC recognition. In 1972, he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by both the NAIA and the Associated Press as he was a major contributor to the Lions' 1972 NAIA National Championship team. He was also a Second Team All-LSC selection in 1973.
For his career, Slice played in 45 games and had 125 catches for 1,942 yards and 13 touchdowns. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards, both records which have since been eclipsed.
